Act of Love Rescue (ALR), was founded in February 2016 by Cheryl Chavez and is a federally tax exempt charitable nonprofit corporation headquartered in Norco, California. Cheryl is a passionate dedicated dog lover who, after retiring from Los Angeles Police Department, has spent the last 10 years saving unwanted dogs from nearby shelters. Most of these dogs were on euthanasia list due to shelters overcrowding and some of them had minor behavioral issues, but to Cheryl they were perfect in every way and deserving a second chance for a loving home and family. We want to educate the public that these unwanted animals are not damaged goods or unworthy, but with proper nurturing can be wonderful family pets.
As a small charity, our Founder and President, Cheryl Chavez has personally financed and invested tens-of-thousands of dollars over the past several years to transform her residential property in the agriculturally zoned area of Norco into a home for over twenty-five (25) dogs, several horses, and goats. Thus, requiring much food, medicine, and maintenance for a small farm.
Our approach at Act of Love Rescue is to rescue on the basis of “quality of life”, and not the quantity of dogs. All the dogs reside in Cheryl’s home while they receive necessary medical care, training and rehabilitation from past emotional or physical trauma. It is our belief that none of these dogs are broken permanently and with a little love and care they can learn to trust again. Cheryl is devoted to spending the time and the resources to care after these dogs until such time that they are ready to find their forever home. Because she learns their personalities and habits firsthand, Cheryl has the right tools to make a perfect match with your family and lifestyle. After all, we only adopt when convinced that you will treat your new dog as a family member and will give him or her a forever home. All of our dogs are fully vetted, heart-warm tested, vaccinated, altered, microchipped and groomed before they leave for adoption.
